Mānawatia a Matariki — Honouring the Māori New Year

Matariki, the Māori name for the Pleiades star cluster, signals the beginning of the Māori New Year when it rises in the mid-winter sky. It\'s a time for reflection, celebration, and renewal.

To mark this meaningful occasion, Pinot and Picasso invite you to join us for a special painting session inspired by Aotearoa’s radiant night sky. Together, we\'ll create a stunning artwork that reflects the beauty and spirit of Matariki.

Each element in the artwork represents one of the three core themes of Matariki:

  • Remembrance: Honouring those we have lost since the last rising of Matariki.

  • Celebration: Coming together with whānau and friends to give thanks for the present.

  • Looking to the future: Looking ahead with hope and setting intentions for the year to come.

Gather with us to reflect, celebrate, and create – as we share in the spirit of Matariki and bring its stories to life on canvas. Kia ora e te whānau – we can’t wait to celebrate with you.
